Southern Cross Language Institute (SCLI) is a small private international preparatory school based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The institution was established in 1987 by businessman Johannes (John) Koopman (1945-2017).[2] in conjunction with the schools of the St Catalina Gakuen in Japan, to provide an intensive one-year course in English for their students and also for independent students [3]. The private school is currently owned and operated by teacher at Southern Cross Language Institute, Lisa Lamar, and her husband Darryl Lamar [3]
