St Monica's Hospital[1] is based in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, providing care to patients over the age of 18. The hospital is managed by York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals, a collective of hospitals across North Yorkshire.

History[edit]

Named as a voluntary hospital, St Monica's was founded by Katherine Love in 1893. Initially, it was named The Easingwold and District St Monica's Cottage Hospital, however, was renamed after the mother of St Augustus. Despite being founded in 1893, it was officially built in 1894 by Messrs Wood and Ainslie, and was initially built for 6 patients.

In 1948, St Monica's was taken over by the state and became an official community hospital. In January 2011, the hospital closed it's Minor Injuries Department.
