The Miners is a European company focusing on the specialty coffee market with a roastery and chain of coffee shops. Founded in 2019 by Oldrich Valta and Egor Kolpakov,[1] it has grown to become one of the largest specialty coffee chains in Europe.[2] Headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, The Miners offers a range of products and services, including coffee roasting, baking, and coffee shops. The company focuses on single-origin beans.
Locations
[edit]Once based in Prague, Czech Republic, the company soon expanded to other areas around the city. The Miners first expanded to several cafés around Prague, including the Old Town and WeWork Prague's only location. As of May 2024, the company operates 10 stores, with locations in Prague, Czech Republic and Barcelona, Spain. They currently have 10 franchise contracts signed, in addition to the other 2 in Barcelona, they are also preparing 1 in Madrid, 2 in Krakow, Poland, and 2 in Yerevan, Armenia.[3]
History
[edit]Initially, the company focused on roasting coffee. Key milestones in the company's history include:
- In 2019, The Miners launched compostable capsules and raised 466 040 Kč on a crowdfunding platform HitHit.[4],[5]
- In 2022, the company expanded to Barcelona, Spain and started franchising.[6][7]
- In 2023, The Miners received The Best Cafe in Prague reward[8] and The Best Design in BCN COFFEE AWARDS 2023 in Barcelona.[9]
