The Spiral is a 2020 short film based on a true story and directed by Igor Buzaev, which tells the story of Rezida Galimova, a female neurosurgeon, who performed the first in a former Eastern Bloc MRgFUS treatment of Parkinson's disease[1][2], essential tremor[3] and dystonia[4]

Plot[edit]

When I was a little girl, I saw a movie about space, where people of the future could be treated painlessly without cuts. It became my dream, which my team and I were able to make true.

— Rezida Galimova, 2020

A painter suffering from tremor can not draw now. His young daughter, after she watched a sci-fi movie, showed her interest in painting what she saw. The painter decided to start from scratch and teach her to draw. He dreams of his daughter's first exhibition success and unsuccessfully tries to help her to draw. A feeling of helplessness and despair leads him to a nervous breakdown. The daughter hides beside the door, watching him. In dreams, she meets the future herself and assists her in treating her father without pain and cuts. This dream comes true in the final scene of the film. The young daughter, with her father, paints the spiral. This painting was on the wall of her medical center.
