Draft:Upending

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Upending" among birds typically refers to a behavior where a bird tilts its body downward while swimming or foraging in water. This behavior is commonly observed among diving birds such as ducks, grebes, and certain species of seabirds. By upending, these birds can reach submerged food items more effectively. For example, a duck might tip its body forward with its head and neck submerged while feeding on aquatic vegetation or small invertebrates beneath the water's surface. This behavior allows them to access food resources that are not available at the water's surface.
