This page continues the entry for a long established open source project Singularity that has had a wikipedia page for a long time. Because there is another fork of the same project with a similar name, the community has decided it's better to start a new entry than to rename the old one and leave the old one for history.

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Apptainer is simply the new name for the well-established HPC containerization technology and project previously known as Singularity, which _has_ previously been accepted. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singularity_(software)). Contested deletion[edit]
This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it refers to a major open-source software project under the purview of the Linux Foundation that's currently deployed at many HPC sites worldwide. I would also point to this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Foundation and the projects there that have their own pages to support the important and precedent of Apptainer also having a page. The previous poster is also right to establish that if https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singularity_(software) exists, then an Apptainer page should exist. Contested deletion[edit]
This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (it describes an open source application that is very useful) --47.218.37.18 (talk) 20:32, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
