The Electronic Sports League One Manila 2016 or also known as ESL One Manila 2016 for short, was an 5x5 international Dota 2 competition held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines. Eight international teams battled for the title in which three of them are direct qualifiers, while the remaining teams went in a qualifying round. The pool prize for the said event was $250,000 which was divided into eight places. The top prize worth $100,000, was given to Wings Gaming, as the Chinese qualifiers, by sweeping Team Liquid in the best-of-5 finals, 3 games to 0. The event occurred from April 22-24 2016, and it was sponsored by PLDT Fibr and GameX.[1][2]

Format

  • Three teams are direct invites.
  • Five teams undergo to their respective regional qualifiers
  • Preliminary round: Eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams by playing a GSL format.
    • After the preliminaries, the top 2 teams from each group advances to the crossover semifinal round.
  • Final Phase:
  • Semifinals (best-of-3 series)
    • SF1: A1 vs. B2
    • SF2: B1 vs. A2
  • Finals (best-of-5 series)
    • F1: SF1 winner vs. SF2 winner
