The East Akim Municipal District is one of the twenty-one (21) districts of the Eastern Region of south Ghana. The capital is Kibi.
History
East Akim Municipal district used to be a larger district in surface area. The Atiwa District was carved out of it in 2004.[1] In February 2008, it was one of the districts upgraded to municipal status by the NPP Kufuor government.
