Group Presentations
I've just been informed that the presentations have to be individual, is this correct Toni/ Darren? The handbook says that a group presentation makes up 50% of the module mark, working in groups of 4-5. Can someone clarify which information is accurate as our group has already made a presentation (as is probably the case with the other groups). Thanks, DanielleForrester1991 (talk) 14:52, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Danielle, my group were confused as well, but we asked Darren last week and he informed us that it was individual. We are going to double check tomorrow in the lecture/lab session. Hope this helps ClaraRoper (talk) 15:03, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Clara! It's disappointing that this is being said so late - we should be able to rely on the handbook for accurate information.DanielleForrester1991 (talk) 12:14, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
No worries, yes I know. I wouldn't do any changes to the group presentation until tomorrow when we can find out for certain that it is individual, maybe start to create your own using the structure and information from the group one. ClaraRoper (talk) 15:14, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi everyone, well this is certainly a change of events. I know that the members of our group were putting a presentation together for all of us, instead of individual.
Archiedale1204 (talk) 15:26, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Archie, Well if I were you I would contact them directly, as people aren't always on here. Hope you sort everything out. ClaraRoper (talk) 15:30, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll send a group message to them. Glad I checked what was on here otherwise we'd be in trouble. Thank you. Archiedale1204 (talk) 15:39, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
User:DanielleForrester1991 I have just looked at my emails, Darren has said that they are individual. ClaraRoper (talk) 17:04, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Dear students (@DanielleForrester1991, ClaraRoper, and Archiedale1204:) - firstly, I'm a little disappointed to see that most of you are not using indents on your talk messages. This means that you have not taken the time to understand this very basic convention on Wikipedia. Comments on talk pages are conventionally indented with a colon : at the start of the comment, that way you can distinguish between different contributions from different users. The next user would use double or triple colons as needed :: or ::: to indent the text further.
- Now, on to the subject of this discussion: as per the course page - "Each student will present for up to 5 minutes with 2 minutes for questions from the markers, if required. Presentations should not be shorter than 3 minutes." So, you will present individually (as you'll be marked individually) but in sequence as a group (as it's a presentation about a group project). Although it's quite clear in the module handbook that you'll be assessed individually, I'd still like to apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. You are free to present either completely on your own or together with your group, whichever suits the preparation work you've done. Either way, you will receive an individual mark. I hope this clarifies things. Don't hesitate to leave me a message on my talk page, if you need to ask me more about this, or since the conversation has been started her, you can leave a talk back banner at the bottom of my page to draw my attention here, if you prefer. --ToniSant (talk) 14:34, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @ToniSant:, will you make available some official time slots? Darren said we would present in the order we are in on the course page, and you said we would present in a group sequence. It would help to know at what time (approximately) we should be there. Thank you! Irina Predescu (talk) 15:31, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @ToniSant:, Ragrding the announcement on ebridge, I have been placed in the Anxiety/uncertainty management group, but I'm actually a member of the elaboration likelihood group. Joe1992w (talk) 18:20, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying@ToniSant:, glad you have given us the choice between presenting individually or as groups.
- Thank you all for the messages and questions. Here are some responses, with individual student names next to the person for whom the reply is most pertinent:
- @Irina predescu: - as per the eBridge announcement: you should be there at the start of the session (13:15) and be prepared to stay until everyone else has presented or 16:05 (whichever comes first). You can make a rough estimation from the list on eBridge as to the approximate time you'll be called but you may be called earlier/later (depending on no shows or people over/under-running) and you must be there when called, regardless, unless you have made specific arrangements with Darren Stephens ahead of time. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you, but this is a regularly scheduled session for this module. --ToniSant (talk) 16:47, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Joe1992w: - thanks for pointing out this important point Joe. The reason you're listed in both groups is because you had both theories listed next to your name on the course page. I suggest you remove Anxiety/uncertainty management from that listing. Let me know if you don't manage to do that easily.
- @Archiedale1204: - you're welcome, but please don't overlook the fact that you're still being assessed individually, even if you opt to present as a group. This means that individual marks for presentation are dependent on individual contributions during the group presentation.
Subject
Psychology of Internet BEHAVIOUR MEANS THAT WE HAVE TO TALK A LOT about psychological side of people identities online. Lets imagine ourselves at home, in our usual environment turning on our laptop or whatever, and start lie to people all the time. Maybe make crimes or smuggle for living. Who really knows who is on other side.
Confusion with assessment
Hi there Toni/ Darren as i mentioned earlier i had used the wrong account when first enrolling on the course page, this has know caused me to be added to the assessment Listings twice under this user and an account i made forgetting my old password and username; Marina Marshall. I shall be using this account for my assessment, do i still have to prepare two presentations for assessment? MarinaLouise (talk) 11:42, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @MarinaLouise: - you only need to prepare one presentation for assessment. You'll note that we listed you back-to-back between the two usernames/groups, so you'll only be expected to present once. You can (and should), however, present your entire experience in terms of understanding and engagement, keeping in mind that you'll be assessed individually for working within the group. We will also accept your contributions from both accounts, particularly if you're able to link them through one of the user pages, where you can also explain this issue. Demonstrating that you understand what happened and how you went about fixing it is actually part of the assignment. --ToniSant (talk) 16:53, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi there ToniSant thanks for clearing that up for me. Also what time will the presentation be? Im baving trouble with my internet and cannot access Ebridge at this time. MarinaLouise (talk) 23:18, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @MarinaLouise: the presentations are running 1:15 to 4:15 and we have to stay until all presentations are finished. I'm going to presume you're in the group with the latest username on which is 'Internet Addiction Disorder' that is the second to last group. Archiedale1204 (talk) 12:37, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @Archiedale1204: thanks for the clarifacation there :) MarinaLouise (talk) 12:44, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- No problem @MarinaLouise: Archiedale1204 (talk) 13:24, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- @MarinaLouise: actually you have been assigned to our group (Irina, Alicia, Danielle, Natalie, Tom) and we are doing Expectancy Violations Theory. Check the announcement from eBridge or your email from March 20th. edit: Also, we have already split the theory sections to all of us, so if you make any edits please check our sandboxes to make sure you're not making edits over our work please.Irina Predescu (talk) 14:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Query
Hi there, Toni/ Darren Quick question, i have been talking to people on teahouse and also talking to people on the theory page which I'm doing, yet it hasnt showed up in my history, is this correct? -- Aliciaag93 (talk) 14:14, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Toni/ Darren, I have a question too. The work I have submitted on the official page of the theory has been deleted. Can I see anywhere why, what was wrong with it so I can edit it and publish again? Irina Predescu (talk) 14:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Irina, your best bet is to ask on the Expectancy Violations Theory talk page. The person who changed it may respond and explain why. I wouldn't worry too much as your contributions will be logged in yours' and the article's history. DanielleForrester1991 (talk) 14:44, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @DanielleForrester1991:, thanks! I will ask there if anyone knows who made the edit.Irina Predescu (talk) 14:58, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Irina predescu: you can also look in the history of the page you are editing, it should show up who last edited the page after you contributed.

Editing WIki page
Hey everyone, I am trying to edit WIki page but I cannot find any place that I could edit. Anyone have any advice? J.podolski (talk) 18:22, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi @J.podolski: if you mean the page on Expectancy Violations Theory you can either click the Edit button on the top right hand side of the page, or if you're trying to just edit one specific section, the Edit button is placed in '[]' brackets at the right hand side of the title.
- Hope this helped.
User:Archiedale1204 What I tried to say, is that I cannot find what to edit on Wiki page for my article, but thanks for quick reply and support ! J.podolski (talk) 21:21, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- J.podolski Look at the talk page, people post on there sections that can be added or improved upon. You could also look at the edit history and find users who are active on the page and message them, they will have ideas on how the page could be improved. --LewisHoward (talk) 21:32, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hey guys, I can't seem to find which room the presentation is in tomorrow for some reason. Does anyone know? Lavender 2302 (talk) 22:10, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Lavender 2302 WO29 (the one where we've had all the lectures), 1-4pm :) TomLee91 (talk) 22:23, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
