Emmy Raver-Lampman (born Emily Raver-Lampman, September 5, 1988)[1][2] is an American actress and singer. She started her career in musical theatre, and has performed in various Broadway and national touring productions, including Hair, Jekyll & Hyde, Wicked, and Hamilton. In 2019, Raver-Lampman began portraying Allison Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.[2]
Early life
Raver-Lampman was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia.[3] Her mother Sharon is a professor at Old Dominion University,[2][4] while her father Greg is a writer and teacher.[5][6] She is an only child. She attended a performing arts high school, Governor's School for the Arts, as well as Maury High in Norfolk.[7] She then attended Marymount Manhattan College in New York where she graduated with a BA in Theater in 2012.[8]
Career
Raver-Lampman began her career in musical theatre. She auditioned for Children of Eden while she was at college, and won a leading role. This led to a role for a touring (later Broadway) production of Hair and she received her Equity card.[7] She has also performed on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde and A Night with Janis Joplin.[9] In 2014, she was in the national touring production of Wicked as a standby for the role of Elphaba.[7][10] In 2015, she was a member of the original ensemble cast of Hamilton on Broadway. She left the Hamilton ensemble to star as Pearl Krabs in the SpongeBob SquarePants musical in Chicago.[3] In 2017, she returned to Hamilton in a starring role, playing Angelica Schuyler in the first national tour of the production.[3]
She had small roles in a few television productions, such as A Million Little Things. She landed her first major television role in 2017, portraying Allison Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy, which was released on Netflix in February 2019.[11]
