This article is about the Portuguese dialect. It is not to be confused with Extremaduran, a language of western Spain.

Estremenho is a dialect of European Portuguese spoken in Coimbra and Lisbon, Portugal. It is considered a prestige dialect of European Portuguese and is the basis of the Standard Portuguese taught and spoken in Lusophone African countries, East Timor, and Macau.[citation needed]
