AllMusic's Richard S. Ginell gave the album 3/5 stars and noted that the sound "has opened up considerably", but that "Ponty continues to explore the high-tech, electronic, sequenced ostinato world that he opened the door to on Individual Choice", ultimately concluding that "It's a very even album, without any extreme peaks or dips".[1]
