Faris Haroun (Brussels, 22 September 1985) is a Belgian football player who plays in central midfield for Middlesbrough. He has also played for the Belgian national football team.

Club career

Middlesbrough

On 18 August 2011, Middlesbrough completed the signing of Haroun, on a three-year contract, following a successful trial.[1][2] Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray said "It's good to get the deal completed. Faris has looked good in training", "He's fit and athletic, has a love of the game and is full of enthusiasm."

Haroun made a dream start to his Middlesbrough career, scoring on his debut in a 3–1 win over Birmingham City on 21 August 2011.[3] His first team start came three days later when he helped Middlesbrough to a 2 - 0 victory over Peterbrough United in the League Cup second round.[4]

Haroun quickly became a fans' favourite at Middlesbrough with fans chanting 'HAROOOOUUUUN' when he touches the ball or comes off the bench.

Faris scored his second goal for Middlesbrough in a 3–2 victory against Cardiff City.

Faris scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in the 2012–13 season against Hull, in which he dribbled around the keeper in a 2–0 victory. He scored his second and third goals of the season in Middlesbrough's 3–2 win against Peterborough on 8 December 2012.

International career

He has played for Belgium and competed for the national team at the 2008 Summer Olympics.[5]
