The 599 GTB Fiorano (internal code F141) is an Italian gran turismo produced by Ferrari. It is the brand's two-seat flagship, replacing the 575 M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model.
Styled by Pininfarina under the direction of Ferrari's Frank Stephenson, the 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006. It is named for its total engine displacement (5999 cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari.
Specifications
Drive train
The Tipo F140C 6.0 L (5999 cc) V12 engine produces a maximum 620 PS (456 kW; 612 hp), making it the most powerful series production Ferrari road car of the time. This is one of the few engines whose output exceeds 100 hp per liter of displacement without any sort of forced-induction mechanism such as supercharging or turbocharging. Its 608 N⋅m (448 ft⋅lbf) of torque will also be a new record for Ferrari's GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay (the original Enzo version could be taller as it would not block forward vision due to its mid-mounted position).[3]

A traditional 6-speed manual transmission as well as Ferrari's 6-speed called "F1 SuperFast" is offered. Reviewers of the car have mentioned that the MagneRide suspension gives the 599 a very comfortable ride but allows it to handle well at the same time..[citation needed]
The company claims a top speed in excess of 330 km/h (205 mph), 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds,[2] and 11.0 seconds to 200 km/h (124 mph).[4]
The Fiorano also sees the debut of Ferrari's new traction control system, F1-Trac.

Handling GT Evoluzione package
An upgrade that improves the car's handling the package, also called HGTE or Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione, includes a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magneto-rheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has also been lowered, which lowers the car's centre of gravity. The package also includes optimised tyres featuring a compound that offers improved grip. The car's electronics have also changed. The gearbox's shifts are faster in high-performance settings, while new engine software improved accelerator response.
The exhaust silencer was modified to produce more marked and thrilling sound under hard usage whilst still delivering just the right comfort levels at cruising speed.
The exterior and interior were upgraded with more carbon fibre components.
It also includes new 20-inch wheels.[5]
P540 Superfast Aperta
The P540 Superfast Aperta is a one off model commissioned by Edward Walson. This car represents the second car in Ferrari's Special Project program.
599XX
The 599XX is a car designed for track use only and is not street legal, based on 599 GTB. The rev limiter is raised to 9000 rpm, with the engine rated for 730 PS (540 kW; 720 hp) at 9000 rpm. Weight is reduced by cutting the weight of the engine unit components, and use of composites and carbon-fibre body parts, carbon-fibre brake pads. A new gearbox shift strategy is introduced to cut overall gear change time to 60 ms. Aerodynamics were retuned to give more downforce (280 kg (617 lb) at 200 km/h, 630 kg (1,389 lb) at 300 km/h). The car also includes 29/67 R19 front and 31/71 R19 rear tires with 19 x 11J wheel rims at the front and 19 x 12J at the rear.
The car was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.[5]
Ferrari announced at the 2010 Beijing International Auto Show that the 599XX had completed the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in a time of 6 minutes and 58.16 seconds - the second fastest time ever recorded for a production-derived sports car.[6] (video here)[7]
599 GTO
On 8 April 2010, Ferrari announced official details of the 599 GTO.[8] The car is a road-going version of the 599XX and Ferrari say the 599 GTO is their fastest road car ever, able to lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 24 seconds, one second faster than the Ferrari Enzo. Its engine produces 670 PS (493 kW; 661 bhp) at 8250 rpm, with 620 N⋅m (460 lb⋅ft) of torque at 6500 rpm.[9] Ferrari claims the 599 GTO can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.35 seconds and has a top speed of over 335 km/h (208 mph).[9] At 1,590 kilograms (3,510 lb), the 599 GTO weighs 100 kg (220 lb) less than the standard GTB.[10] Production will be limited to 599 cars.
Ferrari has given only two other models the GTO designation: the 1962 250 GTO and the 1984 288 GTO.[11] Unlike the previous GTO's however, the 599 GTO was not designed for homologation in any racing series.
SA Aperta
The convertible version of the 599, the SA Aperta, will be introduced 2010 Paris Motor Show as a unique one off collection in honor of designers Sergio Pininfarina and Andrea Pininfarina. Only 80 examples will be released.[12]

Superamerica 45
This one off car, designed internally at Ferrari, was built for long time Ferrari enthusiast Peter Kalikow commemorating his 45 years as a Ferrari client.
It features a rotating carbon fibre hardtop roof which incorporates a rear screen. The boot, also made from carbon fibre, has been redesigned to house the roof when open and to increase downforce at the rear of the car. As well as being finished in Blu Antille, other key visual features include; a chromed front grille, body coloured wheels, carbon fibre panels and special burnished aluminium A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles.
The interior features a combination of Cuoio leather trim and Blu Scuro carbon fibre as well as a latest-generation touch-screen infotainment system.
Hybrid
Motor Authority reported that Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was working on the development of a Ferrari that will use alternative energy sources and which will be based on what Ferrari is doing in Formula 1, which uses Kinetic Energy Recovery System. The KERS was tested using a prototype 599.[13]
Awards
- Evo magazine named the 599 GTB as the Car of the Year for 2006.
- Top Gear Magazine also named the 599 GTB as the Supercar of the Year 2006.
Replacement
According to BBC's Top Gear, the 599 is scheduled for replacement in 2012 by a new vehicle codenamed "F152." An aluminum frame and carbon fiber body panels will reduce weight while engine power will increase to a suggested 700 horsepower. The vehicle will retain a V12 engine but will use the same 6.3-litre engine like the FF, it will also retain the FR layout and 2-seat configuration of the 599.[14]
