Fibroid is a term used in the medical field for different types of tumors. While the meaning may be clear within its context, in general the term may mean several things:
- Fibroids is the common term for uterine fibroids; benign growths composed of leiomyoma or myoma (smooth muscle cells) originating in the uterus.
- A fibroid is also another name for a fibroma, a tumor of fibrous connective tissue usually found on the skin
- An Inflammatory fibroid polyp in the colon
