Summary

Description
English: Ideograms of G-band pattern of human chromosome 10 in three different resolutions (400, 550 and 850 bphs, bands per haploid set). Different resolutions are corresponding to different band patterns observed through mitotic phase (about relation between banding resolution and mitotic phase, see, for example, Fig.3 in W Sethakulvichaia (2012)).

Legend: Black and gray is Giemsa positive. Red is centromere. Light blue is variable region. Dark blue is stalk.

At the right, centromere position (center) and q arm terminus position (bottom), counted from p arm terminus (top) in Mbp (mega base pairs), are labeled. Physical length (sometimes referred as "absolute length") is not labeled. Because physical length of chromosomes vary while mitosis. (typical human chromosome physical length is in the order of from several micrometers to ten and several micrometers. See, for example, Category:Human chromosome images with scale bars.).

"bp_start" and "bp_stop" represent starting and ending point of each bands in base pair position. "iscn_start" and "iscn_stop" represent starting and ending point of each bands, in standard diagrams of "An International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature."
