Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description Various sets employed by the American television quiz show Jeopardy! over the years since it became a daily syndicated program in 1984. From top to bottom: 1984–85 season, 1985–91, 1991–96, 1996–2002, 2002–09, and 2009–2013. The 2002 set was given slight modifications when the show transitioned to high definition broadcasting in 2006.

Sony Pictures Television (previously known as Columbia TriStar Television; successor company to the original producer, Merv Griffin Enterprises). The first set was designed by Dennis Roof, the second by Robert Rang, the third by Ed Flesh, and the lower three by Naomi Slodki.

Immediate source: https://www.gq.com/entertainment/movies-and-tv/201108/jeopardy-trivia-game-shows "How Jeopardy! Defines Us," written by Mike Barthel for GQ Magazine. Size lowered to comply with Wikipedia's non-free image resolution policies. The original image depicted not only the 2002 set but also its 2006 revision, and for that reason the 2006 HD set has been removed and the 1985 set, which was not present in the original image, has been added here. Furthermore, the 2009 set was replaced with a new set in 2013, but that has been omitted because it is merely a revision of the 2009 set design.

Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Jeopardy!
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) The image is placed in the "Set evolution" subsection of the "Production information" section in said article, in order to illustrate encyclopedic coverage of the evolution of Jeopardy! sets over the years. This image's significance is to use photographic imagery to help the reader identify various sets that the syndicated version of Jeopardy! has used over the years, and to provide illustration for the article in a manner that cannot be conveyed by text alone.
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
Hardly any free images exist that show any sets employed by Jeopardy! Besides, these sets contain unique (and undoubtably protected) creative expression, so there is almost certainly no free image that would portray all of the Jeopardy! sets at the same time. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent the production company's image, or would fail the intended purpose of identification or commentary.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) These media are used in only one article and are absolutely not intended as total duplicates of any single work. Furthermore, the image is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company which owns its subjects, without being unnecessarily high resolution.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
This file is not intended to compete with the original market role of the program's production company, and furthermore, most of these sets have come and gone.
Other information The use of this media file in its accompanying article complies with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines regarding non-free content as well as with the fair use provisions of United States copyright law.
