Summary

Description
English: Pinckney Marcius-Simons, Porcelain Towers, c. 1905-1909, oil on canvas, 113 x 88.8 cm, Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, Oyster Bay, NY. In his autobiography, Teddy Roosevelt wrote that at Sagamore Hill "there are three paintings by Marcus-Symonds [sic]—'Where Light and Shadow Meet,' 'The Porcelain Towers,' and 'The Seats of the Mighty'; he is dead now, and he had scant recognition while he lived, yet surely he was a great imaginative artist, a wonderful colorist, and a man with a vision more wonderful still."[1]
