English: Selwyn George Carrol (1928–2010) was an American politician. Originally from northern Florida, Carrol came to Alaska through his service in the U.S. Army. He settled in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he worked for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District for many years, as a counselor and later teacher. Carrol was elected to a single term in the Alaska House of Representatives in 1972 as a Republican, becoming the first of only two African-American Republicans in the history of the Alaska Legislature. Carrol moved to Hampton County, South Carolina in 1977, where he remained for the rest of his life and served as county auditor at one point.
