Summary

Description
English: In a fundraising event to help the West Coast Scholastic Surfing Team compete at the Secondary Schools National surf competition, hundreds of numbered rubber ducks are dropped simultaneously from the Orowaiti River bridge. The ducks have been sponsored for $5 each, and the first three (plus one "lucky duck") win spot prizes for their sponsors. The ducks float 500 metres downriver, where the surfing team gently corral them into a pen from which the winners emerge. Unsuccessful ducks are recovered and reused next year.
