You would never have seen anything so suggestive or liberated, if you like, as that, outside art galleries, in Britain, until the 1960's or maybe the late 50's. America was so far ahead of other nations back then, it is shocking.
Such a racy recruitment poster would have been spontaneously stoned by an angry mob, if it had been put up in Britain, before the 1930’s.
