The Great Southern & Western Railway (GS&WR) Class 321 consisted of twelve 4-4-0 locomotives built in Ireland by Inchicore railway works in the period 1904 to 1906 as express passenger locomotives.[1]: 106–112 [2][1]: 108–112 

Rebuilding

The members of the class were subject to various rebuilds throughout their life including fitting of superheated boilers which improved their performance.[1]: 108–112 

Service

When introduced these were the premier express passenger locomotives of the GS&WR and worked on the Dublin to Cork and Limerick.[2] They were subsequently displaced by later build locomotives but remained useful for other services where a medium locomotive was required and were noted for a good turn of speed.[1]: 106–112
