Brigadier Gary Byles CSC joined the ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) as the Executive Director for Enterprise Services in 2007. He is currently the Chief Executive.[1][2] He is also the ACT government's appointee to the board of the Canberra Convention Bureau.[3]

From 2003-2007 he was Sheriff of New South Wales.[4]

Before that he spent 32 years with the Australian Army,[3] including being, with the rank of brigadier, the Commander of JTF Gold/Op Gold, the ADF unit formed to provide security and general support for the 2000 Summer Olympics held in Sydney, Australia.[5]

Education

Byles holds a Bachelor of Social Science and an Executive Masters of Public Administration.[3]
