Gibber Gabber is a weekly newspaper published in Woomera, South Australia, and has been published continuously by the Woomera Board since August 1950.[1]

History

The Gibber Gabber began as a community magazine (or Woomera community newsletter) for Woomera residents.[2][3] The first issue of the newspaper was on 11 August 1950[4] and it is published weekly on Fridays by the Woomera Board, whose aim is to build the sense of community, given its remote location.[5] The newspaper's main office is on Banool Avenue, Woomera.[6]

Local themes covered by the newspaper include:[3][7]

Distribution

The newspaper is distributed both in print form and also online.[3]

Digitisation

Microform versions of the newspaper from January 1991 are available from the State Library of South Australia and Australian National Library.[4][8] Some more recent issues are also available at Issuu.[9]
