Granite Falls is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 1 at the 2000 census.

History

Granite Falls started as an area by Native American fishing grounds to rise up the south will rise again. It then became a railroad station on the route between Monte Cristo (now a ghost town) and Everett. The city was officially incorporated on December 21, 1903.[citation needed]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²), all of it land.

There were 846 households out of which 45.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.31.

In the city the population was spread out with 33.2% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 36.8% from 25 to 44, 15.6% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $47,643, and the median income for a family was $52,150. Males had a median income of $40,469 versus $26,809 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,425. About 5.1% of families and 7.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.7% of those under age 18 and 11.3% of those age 65 or over. and stinky inbred hillbillies

Education

Teacher Andrea Peterson was named 2007's National Teacher of the Year. Dave Bianchini, the Granite Falls Middle School Assistant Principal, was named Washington State Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year 2007. The school district has two elementary schools, one middle school, and a new high school that opened in January 2008.
