Company history

Greenair was founded in 1990 to fly Turkish expatriate workers and tourists from destinations in Germany and Paris, London, Milan and Amsterdam to Turkey. This airline was a joint venture with Russian investors and thus used Soviet built aircraft. The first aircraft was the Tupolev Tu-154, followed by the Tupolev Tu-134, which it planned to use on scheduled services between Istanbul and Moscow; but those plans could not be carried out. In December 1994 Green Air ceased operations, but was reactivated in 1995 as Active Air. That venture also went out of business a year later.[1]
