Gulf Railway

Gulf Railway is a railway project proposed to connect the six member states of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC). It is supposed to be a 1940 route-km regional network which is aimed to be operational by 2017. 200 km/h diesel trains are planned to travel across boundaries to boost trade. The anticipated cost of US$25bn will be shared by the six countries in proportion to the length of main line in each country. The six member countries are:
