In 2000 Narsaiah was a leader in a movement against rising electricity tariff rates[6] and more recently in demonstrations for forestry rights.[7] Parameshwar Hivrale is Directing a biopic on Gummadi Narsaiah. It is based on the lifestyle of Gummadi Narsaiah and it will release at the end of 2023.
Career
[edit]Gummadi Narsaiah began his political career in 1978 after becoming aware of the problems facing farmers and the brutal treatment of tribal people. He served as Tekulapalli Village's sarpanch (Village Headman) in the beginning of his political career.[8]
Narsaiah contested in the 1983 state election and won the Yellandu constituency, becoming an MLA. He also won the state elections in 1985 and 1989, giving him a hat trick of consecutive election victories. He served a total of 5 terms as the Yellandu constituency's MLA but he as no house Narsaiah belongs to an unregistered political party CPI (ML), and he contests the election as an independent candidate.[9] Because of this his election symbol changes in every election, despite many factors like change in symbol and very low capital invested by Narsaiah for his election campaign, he won the elections as the people of the constituency believes him as "Prajala Manishi" (Peoples man).[10]
