Hachiko: A Dog's Story is an upcoming drama film based on the true story of the faithful Japanese dog Hachikō. It is a remake of the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko monogatari. It is directed by Lasse Hallström, written by Stephen P. Lindsey and stars Richard Gere, Joan Allen and Sarah Roemer. It is to be released on August 8, 2009 in Japan.

Plot

A college professor takes in an abandoned dog and they form an unbreakable bond. After the professor dies while away from home, the dog keeps vigil waiting for his master for nearly a decade.[1]
