Hadi Choopan (Template:Lang-fa; also Romanized as Hādi Chupān; born 1987), known by his nickname "The Persian Wolf",[2] is an Iranian professional bodybuilder. He is the winner of the 2022 Mr. Olympia competition.[3]
Career
Choopan was a fixed member of the Iranian National Bodybuilding Team from 2011 to 2016. He has competed several times at International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) contests and won various titles.[4]
In 2018, U.S. President Donald Trump banned all Iranian nationals from entering the country, and Choopan was denied a visa to participate in the 2018 Arnold Classic. He expressed his frustration and termed the incident discriminatory.[5][6]
Shortly before winning Mr. Olympia in 2022, Choopan made a post on Instagram in which he invoked the name of the primary Zoroastrian deity Ahura Mazda.[7] He later dedicated his win to the "honorable women of Iran" in reference to the Mahsa Amini protests.[8]
