Dipl.-Ing. Johann "Hans" Schlemmer[Notes 1] (18 January 1893, Nesselwang, Bavaria – 26 June 1973) was a highly decorated General der Gebirgstruppe in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the LXXV. Armeekorps. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Hans Schlemmer surrendered to Allied troops in Italy in 1945, he was released in 1947
