Hector is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is usually depicted as a member of the superhero family the Pantheon. Hector uses an energy flail as a weapon. Hector appears to be something of a master strategist.

Fictional character biography

Hector is a member of the Pantheon, a superhuman group of beings with exceptional lifespans and incredible physical durability. It was revealed to the reader, upon the arrival of Cassiopea, Hector was not like the others. When told "a real woman could straight you out", Hector responded with "I don't like real women! I like--" [1] but before he could finish the thought, was interrupted by Ulysses. Additional references were made about Hector's sexuality [2] until it was revealed Hector was gay. [3]

Hector's sexuality was never an issue for anyone else in the family, aside from Ulysses, who took exception to a brief, friendly conversation with Northstar Northstar at Rick Jones' wedding [4]. Ulysses once suggested that gays brought the AIDS crisis on themselves by being too promiscuous, which led to Hector punching him to spare a lengthy and pointless argument[5]. Hector often has to fight off the unwanted sexual advances of fellow Pantheon member Cassiopea.[volume & issue needed]

Hector often goes on Pantheon missions, including unofficial ones such as helping the Hulk avenge the murder of an old Las Vegas mobster friend.[volume & issue needed]

Later, Ulysses sacrifices himself to save Hector from being shot by Jason[6]. When asked why he would die for someone he hates, Ulysses answers that busting each other's chops is what brothers do.[volume & issue needed]

Nothing is known about Hector's life prior to joining the Pantheon. He made the comment that he was recruited into the Pantheon 30 years ago.[7] One of the lower level technicians at the Pantheon made the comment that Hector is the biggest gossip in the group.[volume & issue needed]

Powers and abilities

Hector is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant and wields an energy flail. He is also able to fly. Like the other Pantheon members, Hector has a healing factor.
