Heinz-Ulrich Walther (born March 11, 1943 in Stendal, Germany) is a German pair skater and figure skating judge who represented East Germany and the Unified Team of Germany in competition.

Biography

Heinz-Ulrich Walther first competed with Brigitte Wokoeck and represented the club SC Dynamo Berlin. They were the 1962 and 1964 East German champions. They represented the Unified German Team at the 1964 Winter Olympics, where they placed 11th.

After that partnership ended, he teamed up with Heidemarie Steiner in 1964. They were married in 1969. They represented the club SC Dynamo Berlin and were coached by Heinz-Friedrich Lindner. They are the 1970 World bronze medalists. They represented East Germany at the 1968 Winter Olympics, where they placed 4th.

Heinz-Ulrich Walther studied medicine and worked at the Charité in Berlin. Until he became a pensionair he worked there as an academic employee at the orthopaedics department at the Center for Complementary Medicine Research – CCM.

He is still international figure skating judge and international ISU technical controller for pair skating.
