Hong Kong Noodle Shop is a Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles, United States. It was founded in 1916 by Canton natives Jung David and his brother-in-law, Lester Soo Hoo, who had immigrated to Los Angeles.[2][3][4]
Fortune cookie
The Hong Kong Noodle Shop is usually associated with the fortune cookie, as its founders, Jung David and Lester Soo Hoo, claimed that they created the fortune cookie a few years after opening their noodle shop. They said that they were concerned about the paupers wandering outside his restaurant and decided to give them his cookies free of charge; however, to this day this claim has never been proven.
