Hunjan
Hunjan is a surname found among Rajputs[citation needed] and Ramgarhias of India.[1]
They are part of the Khatri or Kshatriya clan.
Muslim migrants, traders, merchants and nomadic tribes, coming from Hunjan, Iran, to the Punjab region converted to Sikhism - during its immense growth under Guru Gobind Singh's reign. This led to the migrants adopting a new belief, however they retained their surnames - coming from the migrants' ancestral village in Iran. Modern day descendants can trace their origin to Iranian and Indo-Aryan roots.
Notable people:
- Amrita Hunjan, model and singer
- Surinder Shinda, singer from Hunjan gotra (clan)[2]
