Hunter River High School is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school situated on the Hunter River at 36 Elkin Avenue, Heatherbrae, New South Wales, Australia, just south of Raymond Terrace.

There are approximately 743 students, 15% of whom identify as Aboriginal. They have two mottos. The traditional motto appears on the school's crest and is the French word "Essayez", meaning "test yourself". The second motto is "Quality Relationships - Quality Learning".[1]
