Iskra Arabella Lawrence (born 11 September 1990) is an English model. She is contributor to Self Magazine,[2][3] and was the founding managing editor at Runway Riot, a website meant to be an outlet for women of all shapes and sizes to learn about glamour. Lawrence models for, and is the global Role Model for, Aerie,[4] a brand of clothing from American Eagle Outfitters. She is also a National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) brand ambassador[5] and creator of the NEDA Inspires Award.[6]

Background

Iskra Arabella Lawrence was born on 11 September 1990 in Wolverhampton, England, moving to Kidderminster Worcestershire when 6 weeks old.[7] Lawrence attended Bromsgrove School, was a competitive national swimmer, and was accepted into the UK National Youth Theatre[8] at 15.

Modeling

Lawrence does not allow any of her Instagram photos to be retouched in any way to enhance her image.[9] She is a model for the American Eagle Outfitters lingerie line, Aerie.[10][11][12] She held the managing editor post at Runway Riot, a media entity devoted to advancing glamour of women of all shapes and sizes.[13] She is a contributor to Self magazine. She actively calls out body shamers,[14] and has even taken on a body shamer via Instagram.[15][16] She does not want to be classified as a plus-sized model.[17] After 13 years of modelling Lawrence completed her catwalk debut at New York Fashion Week[18] for Chromat.

In 2016 she was chosen as one of BBC's 100 Women.[19]
