Ivan Jacky Minnaert is a Belgian football coach who is currently assigned to Rayon Sports of the Rwanda National Football League as of 2018.

Career

Mali

Presented the head coach of Djoliba AC in autumn 2014,[1] Minnaert set his sights on staying at the club for ten years and earning at least one trophy for them[2] but stepped down from his position in 2015 when Djoliba games were invalidated, causing relegation to the second division before visiting Mali again in 2017.[3]

Kenya

Negotiating a contract with AFC Leopards of the Kenyan Premier League in early 2016,[4] the Belgian inked a two-year deal with Ingwe in late February,[5] but was fired by August for poor results,[6] including a six-game winless run,[7] despite being second early on,[8] with some urging him to step down beforehand.[9] In the end, he decided to sue AFC Leopards for salaries owed, which amounted to 22000 US dollars.[10]

Guinea

Replacing Adda Benamar at AS Kaloum Star in mid 2017,[11] Minnaert made the quarterfinals of the Guinée Coupe Nationale,[12] but missed out on the league championship with a poor run,[13] even though they escaped relegation.[14]

South Africa

Assisting fellow Belgian Jean-François Losciuto at Black Leopards of the South African National First Division in late autumn 2017,[15] the former youth director became caretaker of the team a few days later,[16] making it the objective to achieve promotion and applied an offensive system in the team.[17] However, when directing them to 10th place in 15 matches, he was slated to be fired.[18] The Leopard's management soon ended his contract but Minnaert claimed that their team manager, Elijah Mulaudzi, attempted to run him over on the car loaned to him by the club,[19] taking the case to court.[20] Instead, the Black Leopards officials charged him with theft as he was in possession of a car that belonged to them but asked to give it back a day later,[21] and he was released by the authorities on warning.[22]

Rwanda

Accepting a six-month contract with Mukura Victory at the start of 2017,[23] the former youth specialist pledged to improve results and turn around the season,[24][25] beating Pepiniere 1-0 in his debut[24] before arranging a deal with AS Kaloum Star of Guinea that summer.[26]

Head coach of Rayon Sports of the Rwanda National Football League from November 2015[27] to February 2016,[28] he was awarded another contract with Gikundiro in spring 2018,[29] taking them to the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup where they were pooled with USM Alger, Young Africans, and Gor Mahia in Group D and stated that reaching the quarterfinals would be an onerous task.[30]
