Jacob Krop (born 4 June 2001)[2] is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He won the silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships and bronze at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
At age 17, Krop was the 5000 m silver medallist at the 2019 African Under-20 Championships.
Career
[edit]In April 2019, 17-year-old Jacob Krop ran a new personal best in the 5000 metres of 13:14.44 to take the silver medal at the African U20 Championships in Athletics in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.[2] After placing fourth in the event at the Kenyan Trials, he qualified for the Doha World Championships in Qatar as first and second runner did not comply with the AIU anti-doping rules.[3] He finished sixth in Doha with a new personal best of 13:03.08.[2]
Krop competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the 5000 m event and won the silver medal in a time of 13:09.98.[2]
