Vincent M. Benham served as the 4th Secretary of State of Alabama from 1824 until he resigned in 1834.

He moved to Huntsville, AL in 1820 where he went to practice law and was educated at what is now known as Washington and Lee University.

He married his first wife in 1825, who died a few years later. He married his second wife in 1831, who died in 1864. His third, and final marriage, took place in 1870. Between his three marriages, he had eleven children.[1]
