Gold medal – first place 1998 Nagano Downhill

Jean-Luc Crétier (born April 28, 1966 in Albertville, Savoie) is a retired alpine ski racer.

He won the gold medal in the downhill at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. It was the only victory of Crétier's international career; he did not win a single World Cup race or World Championship race but was runner-up at the downhill world cup in 1997-1998. He had a few good places in different skiing competitions such as the Olympic games in Albertville, 1992 (4th in men's combined competition) . His final World Cup race was ten months later, in December 1998.
