History

JetSuite announced the launch of JetSuiteX in April 2016. According to JetSuite CEO Alex Wilcox, the virtual airline was created in response to declining short-haul traffic and the rise in fares on short-haul flights in the United States.[1][2] Wilcox attributes these phenomena in part to long wait times in airports.[1][3] JetSuiteX targets time-sensitive travelers who seek an experience better than that of traditional low-cost flights but not as expensive as private jet travel.[2]

The company started operations on April 19, 2016, selling tickets for flights between Burbank and Concord in California.[4]

Corporate affairs

JetSuiteX is a subsidiary of JetSuite, a private jet charter company with headquarters in Irvine, California. Its CEO is Alex Wilcox, who was a founding executive of JetBlue.[4] As a virtual airline, JetSuiteX sells tickets for scheduled flights operated either by the company Delux Public Charter or by JetSuite.[5]

Destinations

As of October 2016, JetSuiteX sells tickets for flights to the below destinations. Flights between Carlsbad and San Jose are operated by JetSuite Embraer Phenom 100s, while all other flights are operated by Delux Public Charter Embraer ERJ 135s.[6]

Services

JetSuiteX flights depart from private jet terminals, separate from the terminals used by traditional airlines and equipped with their own TSA checkpoints.[9] On board, the company provides power ports at each seat, complimentary Wi-Fi, and free in-flight entertainment streamed to passengers' mobile devices.[1]

The company has an arrangement with JetBlue in which passengers can earn points for the latter's frequent-flyer program, TrueBlue.[2]
