Political career

In 2008, Slezak won election to the Michigan State's House of Representatives 50th District defeating incumbent, Ted Hammon, in the Democratic primary.[3] Slezak in 2010 ran to replace the term limited Deborah Cherry in the State Senate, 26th District.[1] Switching parties, Slezak ran for the open 5th Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring Dale Kildee as a Republican; he was defeated by Kildee's nephew Dan.[4]
