Joelle Joni Siwa (born May 19, 2003), usually credited as JoJo Siwa, is an American dancer, singer, actress personality, and model. She is best known for starring on the Lifetime reality series Dance Moms. In 2013, she rose to fame while competing on Abby Lee Miller's dancing competition show, Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. She competes on the ALDC elite dance team and, in 2016, continues to be featured on the show.[1][2] The music video for her 2016 song, "Boomerang", has been viewed more than 75 million times on YouTube. She also has other songs including 'I can make you dance'. All of her songs are available on iTunes. She has been in many seasons of the hit reality TV show Dance Moms where here fame grew.

Early life

JoJo Siwa was born on May 19, 2003 in Nebraska to Jessalynn Siwa. She first studied dance, from the age of 2 years old, at her mother's dance studio, Just Dance Co., in Omaha. She is home-schooled.[2][3]

Career

2013-2014: Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition

Siwa was a top-5 finalist on the second season of the Lifetime series Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition and the youngest contenstant on season 2.[4] She appeared on the show with her mother and was eliminated in week 9.[5]

2015-present: Dance Moms

Siwa began auditioning for Abby Lee Miller's ALDC dance competition team in 2014 and was selected for the team in early 2015.[6] At the same time, she began to appear on the Lifetime reality show "Dance Moms", which follows the ALDC team, and the often quarrelsome mothers of the dancers, to weekly in dance competitions.[2] Siwa is also set to guest star on the Disney Channel Series Bizaardvark.[7]

Siwa's single, "Boomerang" was released in May 2016 for digital download and followed a previous single "I Can Make You Dance". "Boomerang" addresses the subject of online bullying.[2][8] The music video for the song has been viewed more than 90 million times.[9] Her Instagram page has 3.3 million followers.[10] Siwa has an accessory line sold at the Claire's retail stores that includes her signature bows.[11]
