Lieutenant General John Sinvula Mutwa, M.E.O.E. is a Namibian military officer who is the current Chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF). He was appointed the Commander of the Namibian Army in 2011, and NDF Chief on 31 December 2013.
Career
Mutwa was appointed Commander of the Army in April 2011. At this occasion, he was promoted from Brigadier General to Major General. He served in that position until 31 December 2013 when he took over the position as NDF Chief from Lieutenant General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah.[2]

1981 - 1982 Political Science and Leadership Course in the USSR.
1993 - 1994 Senior Command and Staff Course in the USA.
1995 Military Logistics Officers Course in the UK.
1996 Advanced Military Law Course at the University of Namibia (UNAM).
1997 Defence Executive Management Course joint programme between the University of Witwatersrand & UNAM.
1998 - 1999 National Security Strategy Course in South Africa.
PLAN career
1979 - 1980 Regional Staff Officer: Administration, Eastern Front - SWAPO Military Wing (PLAN).
1980 - 1989 Regional Chief of Reconnaissance, Eastern and Northern Fronts.
External Missions
1999 - 2000 Served as the Chief of Staff:SADC Allied Forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
2000 Served on the Joint Military Commission overseeing the peace process in the DRC.
2004 -2005 Defence Attache accredited to Republic of Angola.
Military Decorations
On Heroes' Day 2014 he was conferred the Excellent Order of the Eagle, First Class.[3]
