John Michael Russell (born 3 August 1935) is a British rower who competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics and in the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Russell was born in London. In 1959, he won the Wingfield Sculls.

In 1960, he was a crew member of the British coxed four which was eliminated in the repechage of the coxed four event.

Four years later, he won the silver medal with the British boat in the coxless fours competition with Hugh Wardell-Yerburgh, William Barry, and John James.
