The students at Johnsburg High school would like it to be known that the high school is, for no good reason at all, firing the greatest teacher they have ever had. Mr. Stanley Dostal. The Student body of Johnsburg high school wish it be known that they will never forget Dostal as the funniest teacher the school had ever seen, and the nicest, most reasonable, and most intelligent man this planet has seen in a long time.

The students at Johnsburg High School have many great things to say about Mr. Dostal

"Johnsburg High School surely will never be the same again," says junior Tyler D. Martin, "Mr. Dostal was so great he could make even an emo kid as happy and giddy as a little school girl."

"Dr. D is da MAN!" reports graduating senior Jake Grizzly, "How could the school ever find someone so hip and cool to replace him, dawg?"

According to junior Mike Ward Mr. Dostal has the "best ties on Earth."

The famous artist , and former student of Dostal, Nolan Piklor says that he would not be surprised if Dostal was, "The younger brother of Chuck Norris."

Another student, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated, "Mr. Dostal is so awesome that his life expectancy is binary."

But the greatest comment of all came from Mr. Bryce Freund. He says, "Dostal is a man of 1000 words, but one strong and true heart. Dostal is the best teacher at JHS forever and always."

It is clear that the students love Dostal for his strong personality. But Mr. Dostal is not just a jester all of the time. In fact he taught like there was no tomorrow. He taught his students everything they needed to know and he taught them well. Anything that they didn't learn from him they learned for themselves in his classroom with a series of hands on experiments that would force the students to think for themselves. Mr. Dostal is a teacher that will be truly, completely missed by all the students whom have had the privilege to be taught under his god-like grace.

Johnsburg High School is a public High School in Johnsburg, Illinois; a town located in northeast McHenry County. Its mascot is the Skyhawk.

Community

The community experienced a rapid growth, and the high school had 907 students for the 2009-2010 academic school year.[7]

Academics

There are a variety of courses students can take at JHS. There are currently 15 AP courses, and nearly 30% of the student population takes one AP exam in their junior or senior year. Conversely, many students opt to take part in the automotive program, and typically about 15 students per year earn their CDL license (via Rockford) as seniors.

One of the extracurricular offerings is its theatre program, which produces three performances each school year. The school has a unique theater-in-the-round. Also in the 2009-2010 school year they have put on Four plays. Starting with Little Women, One Act Plays, West Side Story, and Lend Me a Tenor.

Music

The school offers both a choral program as well as a band program. There are two levels to academic choir including concert choir and acapella choir. Concert choir is open to any student, while acapella choir is available upon passing an audition based on the skills of singing unaccompanied as well as being able to read music. It is considered to the more advanced choral level. There is also a madrigals group that is also available through audition. The band program includes a wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, concert band and marching band. The marching band is mandatory for any student enrolled in any instrumental ensemble. The Johnsburg Marching Skyhawks march at every home football game, as well as competitions throughout Northern Illinois.

The Marching Band has competed at Marengo Settler's Day's Field Show Competition, St. Rita Mustang Stampede, Sandwich HS Marching Band Invitational, Wheaton North High School Marching Band Festival, and the University of Illinois Marching Band Festival. The Marching Band also performed in Walt Disney World at the Disney Magic Music Days Parade in March 2008.

The Jazz Ensemble has competed at Jazz in the Meadows and the Northshore Jazz Festival. The Jazz Ensemble has also performed at the Fox Valley Jazz Festival and the Johnsburg Educational Partnership Foundation Gala, and at Walt Disney World in March 2008. Historically, the school's band has also performed at Epcot Center (1988), and aboard a cruise ship in the Bahamas (1990.)

Student body

Theatre

Johnsburg High School has a theatre program that is extracurricular. There are about 100 members, half of which are active in all aspects of any play, including set construction, tech, and acting. Three teachers from the school run the program, though students are generally in charge of designing and building the sets. The program has been chosen twice to perform at the Illinois Theatre Fest.

Plays are produced in the fall and spring, and a musical is performed in the winter. The shows usually run one or two weekends and make enough money to support the next play.
