Karan Singh Thakral is an entrepreneur and an active member of Singapore’s business society.

Business career

Thakral is currently an Executive Director of the multi-billion dollar Thakral Group.[1]

In 1975, Thakral established a consumer electronics division of his family business in Singapore and expanded its network to other countries in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In 1981, he established the Distribution of Consumer Electronics business of the Thakral Group in Hong Kong, ultimately leading to the creation of Thakral Corporation Ltd, a separate company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.[2] Thakral was also responsible for the development of the textile division of the Thakral Group.[3]

Thakral has also served as Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation's South Asia Business Group, Chairman of the Singapore Chapter of TiE, and President of the International Punjabi Chamber of Service Industry.[4]

Television work

Thakral served as one of the judges on the reality TV series Angel's Gate, which began broadcasting on Channel NewsAsia in February 2012. The show gives budding entrepreneurs in Asia an opportunity to pitch business ideas to investors.
