Keiynan Lonsdale (born 19 December 1991) is an Australian actor, singer, and dancer. He is most well known for his role as Oliver Lloyd (Ollie), a dance student, on the ABC television series Dance Academy, Uriah Pedrad in The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Wally West in The Flash, and Eldon Hanon in The Finest Hours.
Personal life
Keiynan was born in Sydney, Australia, to a Nigerian father and an Australian mother, who is of part Irish descent.[1] He is the youngest of six, with three brothers and two sisters from his mother's side, and one of seven kids from his father's side. From his father's side, he is of the Edo tribe in Nigeria.
Career
In 2007, Lonsdale got his first acting job in the film, Razzle Dazzle. The following year, he played in one episode of the Australian television series, All Saints. Lonsdale's most notable work was his role as Oliver Lloyd (Ollie) in the Australian teen drama series, Dance Academy. Keiynan released his first single on iTunes titled "One and Only", on May 20, 2014.
Lonsdale played Uriah in the second film of the Divergent trilogy, titled The Divergent Series: Insurgent, which was released 20 March 2015.[2] He briefly reprised the role in The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016).
In August 2015, Lonsdale was cast as Wally West in a series regular role on the second season of The Flash.[3] Originally he auditioned for the role of Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, but this was given to Franz Drameh.[4]
Lonsdale is also a musician, and was recently featured on Connor Franta's Common Culture V.[5]
