Kenan Kocak (5 January 1981) is a Turkish former player and current football manager who last managed SV Sandhausen.[1]

Professional career

Kocak was a youth product of Waldhof Mannheim.[2] Kocak played sparsely for Waldhof Mannheim, Austria Salzburg, Reutlingen 05, 1. FC Pforzheim, and finally as a player-manager for Türkspor Mannheim.[3]

Managerial career

VfR Mannheim

In the winter break of the season 2010/2011 Kenan Kocak became Manager of the VfR Mannheim.[4] In his first competitive match as coach, his team was able to knock out the local rival of Waldhof Mannheim in the quarter final of the BfV Cup.[5] In the regular season Kocak reached with the VfR Mannheim the second place in the Verbandsliga Nordbaden.[6] In the promotion playoff his team faced FV Ravensburg. In the first leg the VfR Mannheim finished in a 1:1 draw. The second match was won by the VfR Mannheim with 2:0. As a result, the VfR Mannheim reached the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.[7] In his first Oberliga season, Kocaks team finished, as promoted team, in the second place.[8] After the first half of the season 2011/2012 the VfR Mannheim was even on the top of the Oberliga Baden Württemberg.[9] In the season 2012/2013 the VfR Mannheim finished in the third place.[10] After this season Kenan Kocak left the VfR Mannheim and became manager of Waldhof Mannheim, which played at this time in the Regionalliga.[11]

Waldhof Mannheim

Waldhof Mannheim hired Kocak on 7 June 2013.[12] and had his first match on 29 July 2013 against SSV Ulm 1846.[13] The final score was 4–2 win for Waldhof Mannheim.[13] Waldhof Mannheim finished the 2013–14 season in fifth place.[14] In the following season, Waldhof Mannheim dropped down to 13th place.[15] Waldhof Mannheim won the Regionalliga Südwest during the 2015–16 season.[16] In the promotion playoff, Waldhof Mannheim faced off against Sportfreunde Lotte.[17] The first leg finished in a 0–0 draw and the second leg finished in a 2–0 win for Sportfreunde Lotte.[17] Kocak left Waldhof Mannheim on 3 July 2016 to become manager of SV Sandhausen.[18]

Sandhausen

Kocak became manager of Sandhausen on 3 July 2016.[18] Kocak's debut match was a 2–2 draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf.[19] His first win with Sandhausen came on 22 August 2016 in a 2–1 win against SC Paderborn 07.[20] He was sacked on 8 October 2018.[21]
